What is the law?

The State of Michigan legalized medical marihuana in 2008 and recreational use in 2018. The State is currently drafting recreational rules and regulations to be complete in January 2020.

What does that mean for me now?

All Michiganders are allowed to possess or enjoy cannabis.

Cannabis products containing THC can only be purchased by Michiganders with medical marihuana cards.

What are some of the legal limitations?

Michiganders cannot possess more than 2.5 ounces at one time.

It is illegal to consume cannabis in public.

How do I get a medical marihuana card?

Medical marihuana cards can be obtained through a consultation with a licensed physician.

How do I get cannabis products if I don’t have a medical marihuana card?

Anyone with a medical marihuana card can legally gift you cannabis products. It is important to note that it is unlawful for you to compensate that person in any way.
